LORD 307-2

Main features

  • 20,000 to 57,000 cP Hardener Viscosity
  • 1:1 General-Purpose Volume Mix
  • 1- to 2-Hour System Working Time

Product Description

LORD 307-2 is the Part B hardener used with LORD 305-1 resin in a two-component, medium-viscosity epoxy adhesive system. As supplied, the hardener is a clear amber liquid with a typical viscosity of 20,000 to 57,000 cP at 25 deg C and density of 947 to 995 kg/m^3. For general-purpose mixed-stress joints, LORD 305-1/307-2 uses a 1:1 resin-to-hardener volume ratio. A 54 g mixed mass has a typical working time of 1 to 2 hours at 24 deg C, with handling strength in 8 to 16 hours and full strength in 24 to 48 hours at 18 deg C or higher.

Key features

  • Hardener Rheology: Typical LORD 307-2 viscosity is 20,000 to 57,000 cP at 25 deg C using Brookfield HBF, spindle 2 at 10 rpm.
  • System Mixing: The LORD 305-1/307-2 general-purpose configuration uses a 1:1 resin-to-hardener ratio by volume.
  • Mixed-System Work Time: A 54 g LORD 305-1/307-2 mixed mass has a typical working time of 1 to 2 hours at 24 deg C.

Applications

When combined with LORD 305-1, system uses include assembling food-processing machinery such as gaskets, bushings, shock-absorbing devices, and rubber rolls, plus bonding prepared metals and prepared rubber.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.

Thermal Properties
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)
The glass transition temperature for organic adhesives is a temperature region where the polymers change from glassy and brittle to soft and rubbery. Increasing the temperature further continues the softening process as the viscosity drops too. Temperatures between the glass transition temperature and below the decomposition point of the adhesive are the best region for bonding. The glass-transition temperature Tg of a material characterizes the range of temperatures over which this glass transition occurs.
