LOCTITE SI 5604

Main features

  • 4:1 Volume Mix Ratio
  • 5 to 10 Minute Fixture Time
  • 205% Cured Elongation

Product Description

LOCTITE SI 5604 is a two-part neutral alkoxy silicone adhesive/sealant that mixes Part A and Part B at 4:1 by volume. At 25 deg C, fixture time is 5 to 10 minutes on steel and Alclad using the stated ISO 4587 threshold. The product is used for industrial bonding and sealing applications. After seven days at 22 deg C and 50% RH, typical cured properties include Shore A hardness 42, 205% elongation, tensile strength of 2.1 N/mm^2, volume resistivity of 5.1x10^14 ohm cm, and dielectric breakdown strength of 20 kV/mm.

Key features

  • Two-Part Mixing: Part A and Part B are mixed at 4:1 by volume.
  • Assembly Handling: Reaches fixture strength in 5 to 10 minutes on steel and Alclad at 25 deg C under the stated ISO 4587 threshold.
  • Cured Flexibility: Typical elongation is 205% by ISO 37 after seven days at 22 deg C and 50% RH.

Applications

Industrial bonding and sealing applications.

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
≥120 %
Thermal Properties
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)
The glass transition temperature for organic adhesives is a temperature region where the polymers change from glassy and brittle to soft and rubbery. Increasing the temperature further continues the softening process as the viscosity drops too. Temperatures between the glass transition temperature and below the decomposition point of the adhesive are the best region for bonding. The glass-transition temperature Tg of a material characterizes the range of temperatures over which this glass transition occurs.

Volume Resistivity
Volume resistivity, also called volume resistance, bulk resistance or bulk resistivity is a thickness dependent measurement of the resistivity of a material perpendicular to the plane of the surface.
