LOCTITE PC7319

Main features

  • 28 to 40 Minute Gel Time
  • -30 to 120 deg C Dry Service
  • Brush- or Roller-Applied Coating

Product Description

LOCTITE PC 7319 is a two-component epoxy coating for chemical-corrosion protection of industrial equipment and concrete surfaces. The gray mixed liquid can be applied by brush or roller after resin and hardener are combined at 2.3:1 by volume or 3.4:1 by weight. At 25 deg C, gel time is 28 to 40 minutes and recoat time is 1 to 4 hours. Typical dry service temperature is -30 to 120 deg C. Cured material has Shore D 85 hardness, 0.421 W/(m K) thermal conductivity, and 68 N/mm^2 compressive strength.

Key features

  • Chemical-Exposure Coating: Used on equipment and concrete surfaces exposed to aggressive chemicals, including sulfuric-acid exposure service.
  • Gel and Recoat Timing: Gel time is 28 to 40 minutes at 25 deg C, with a 1 to 4 hour recoat window at the same temperature.
  • -30 to 120 deg C Dry Service: Typical dry service temperature spans -30 to 120 deg C.

Applications

Tanks, chutes, chemical-containment areas, concrete pits, tanks, floors, foundations, and related surfaces exposed to aggressive chemicals.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.

Thermal Properties
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)
The glass transition temperature for organic adhesives is a temperature region where the polymers change from glassy and brittle to soft and rubbery. Increasing the temperature further continues the softening process as the viscosity drops too. Temperatures between the glass transition temperature and below the decomposition point of the adhesive are the best region for bonding. The glass-transition temperature Tg of a material characterizes the range of temperatures over which this glass transition occurs.
