DOWSIL Q3-1566

Main features

  • -50 to 275 deg C Long-Term Range
  • Skin-Over in About 5-7 Minutes
  • Non-Sag Acetoxy Paste

Product Description

DOWSIL Q3-1566 Heat Resistant Adhesive/Sealant is a one-part, acetoxy-cure silicone paste for high-temperature bonding and sealing. The non-sag material skins in about 5-7 minutes at room temperature and 50% relative humidity, becomes tack-free in about 18 minutes, and cures about 3 mm deep in 24 hours under the same conditions. After seven days at 23 deg C and 50% relative humidity, typical cured properties include Shore A 43 hardness, 3.6 MPa tensile strength, and 340% elongation. It remains flexible from -50 to 275 deg C, with short peaks up to 350 deg C.

Key features

  • About -50 to 275 deg C Long-Term Service Range: Short-duration temperature peaks are listed up to about 350 deg C.
  • About 5 to 7-Minute Skin-Over Time: This surface-cure milestone occurs during room-temperature moisture cure.
  • One-Part Acetoxy Silicone: Moisture-cure adhesive/sealant is supplied for high-temperature bonding and sealing.

Applications

Ovens, cookers and heating equipment; automotive sealing involving oil or coolant exposure.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
