COOLTHERM 6744

Main features

  • Low-Viscosity 1:1 Processing
  • Two-Hour Room-Temperature Cure
  • Flame-Retardant Silicone Encapsulation

Product Description

Circalok 6744 Silicone Encapsulant is a two-component, low-viscosity, flame-retardant silicone for potting and encapsulating electrical and electronic assemblies. The product is black and has a typical viscosity of 2,700 cP at 25 deg C with a 1:1 mix ratio by weight. It can cure in 2 hours at 25 deg C or 45 minutes at 65 deg C, giving processors a room-temperature or accelerated heat-cure option. Typical cured data include Shore A 55 hardness and 17.7 kV/mm (450 V/mil) dielectric strength. The system combines flowable processing with flexible silicone encapsulation and electrical insulation.

Key features

  • Low-Viscosity 1:1 Processing: Typical viscosity is 2,700 cP at 25 deg C with a 1:1 mix ratio by weight.
  • Dual-Temperature Cure: Cures in 2 hours at 25 deg C or 45 minutes at 65 deg C.
  • Flexible Electrical Protection: Typical cured hardness is Shore A 55 and dielectric strength is 17.7 kV/mm (450 V/mil).

Applications

Potting and encapsulation of electrical and electronic assemblies requiring silicone flexibility and flame-retardant performance.

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.

Electrical Properties
Dielectric Strength
Dielectric strength is measured in kV per mm and is calculated by the Breakdown voltage divided by the thickness of the tested material. Those two properties go hand in hand and while Breakdown voltage is always thickness dependent, dielectric strength is a general material property. As an example, the dielectric strength of Polyimide is 236 kV/mm. If we place 1mm of Polyimide between two electrodes, it will act as an insulator until the voltage between the electrodes reaches 236 kV. At this point it will start acting as a good conductor, causing sparks, potential punctures and current flow.
17.7 kV/mm
Volume Resistivity
Volume resistivity, also called volume resistance, bulk resistance or bulk resistivity is a thickness dependent measurement of the resistivity of a material perpendicular to the plane of the surface.
