BOSTIK HM7116-98

Main features

  • Moderate Open-Time Hot-Melt Processing
  • Plasticizer-Migration Resistance for Vinyl
  • Good High-Temperature Resistance

Product Description

Bostik HM7116 combines moderate open time, low application viscosity, and good high-temperature resistance in a polyester hot melt adhesive for wood, textiles, vinyl film, and related product-assembly substrates. The light amber granular material is typically applied at 400 to 450 deg F using slot-die, spray, or hot-melt gravure equipment. Resistance to plasticizer migration is relevant for vinyl-film constructions, while a 125 deg C SAFT result characterizes elevated-temperature adhesive performance. Edgefold and general product assembly are established uses for this polyester hot-melt grade.

Key features

  • Moderate open time: Provides a medium relative open time at 200 deg C for hot-melt assembly.
  • Low application viscosity: Melt viscosity is 28,000 cP at 215 deg C for hot-melt application.
  • Plasticizer migration resistance: Resists plasticizer migration in vinyl-film bonding applications.

Applications

Bonding textiles, vinyl films, wood, edgefold constructions, and general product-assembly substrates.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
28000 mPa.s
