Main features

  • 2.0 mm Sealing-Tape Thickness
  • Instantly Paintable Ionomer Backing
  • Immediate Seal Without Chemical Cure

Product Description

3M Extreme Sealing Tape 4412N is a translucent, single-coated acrylic sealing tape for covering existing joints, seams, and penetrations in metal and plastic assemblies. Its typical 2.0 mm total thickness comprises 1.9 mm adhesive and a 0.1 mm ionomer backing. Applied with pressure to clean surfaces, it seals immediately, while full bond strength generally develops after 24 hours. The ideal application range is 21 to 38 deg C, with a suggested minimum of 10 deg C. The abrasion-resistant backing is instantly paintable and accepts overlapping tape joints; overlaps should extend at least 2 cm.

Key features

  • 2.0 mm conformable construction: Typical thickness includes 1.9 mm acrylic adhesive and a 0.1 mm ionomer backing, excluding the liner.
  • Immediate sealing on contact: Pressure application establishes the seal before the bond generally reaches full strength after 24 hours.
  • Paintable ionomer backing: The flexible, abrasion-resistant surface can be painted immediately and supports tape-to-tape overlap joints.

Applications

Sealing existing joints, seams, and penetrations on metals, plastics, and other compatible surfaces.

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
400 %
Tensile Strength (Thin Film)
Tensile strength determines the resistance of a material to break under tension and it measures how much elongating load (or tensile stress) it can handle before fracture. To make it simple, it measures how much force we have to apply when pulling apart a material before it breaks.
